I love running. I only started in 2006 and when I fell pregnant in 2008 I carried on running as I had a very healthy pregnancy. I had Berlin marathon already booked and I decided to still run it.
I was 5 months pregnant when I crossed the finish line after 5 and a half hours. I felt great. I should have slowed down but I had one more race to do.
I ran the Great North run the following weekend. I ran both these runs with a baby on board sign on my back and still people, mainly men couldnt believe I was still running.
I carried on running between 3 and 5 miles up to the day before I had my beautiful son William.
He was a healthy 6 lbs 13 oz and I recovered very quickly. I was running again 9 days later and I ran my first marathon as a mommy (apart from Berlin) 8 months later and I was still breastfeeding.
I completed the Dublin marathon in a respectable 3 hours 54min.
This year I have got stronger still, my half marathon best time has come down to 1 hr 39 min which is 4 min faster than before I had my boy and I ran my fastest marathon last month in London in 3hrs 47min!!
Running is a great way of getting time to yourself and its stress busting. I find it theraputic and its a great family day out when we all get to visit new places where I run!!
Now I'm trying for baby number 2 and I hope to continue running.
