Wide Running Shoes
Wide running shoes can be hard to find for those of us with wider feet. Here we hope to help you find the right pair.
If you have wide feet then you know how difficult it can be to find the right pair of shoes much less the right pair of wide running shoes. I have been on a mission the last few years to find the pair that works best for me. In this time I have gone through many blisters and lots of frustration. I hope to share with you some of what I have learned so that maybe you won't have to go through everything I have.
The first pair of wide running shoes I tried were the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 . I really loved these shoes. They were the shoes that started me running, my first real running shoe. They come in four widths, from narrow to extra wide. I of course wore the extra wide. The GTS 10's have been replaced with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11 which I found to not be as wide when I tried them so I started looking for a new shoe.
The next shoe I tried was the Saucony Women's ProGrid Stabile CS2. I had issues with this shoe also. It did not seem wide enough for my feet. Although the shoe box was wider than the new Brooks Adrenaline it was just not quite wide enough for my feet.
Asics Gel-Foundation 10 were the next shoe I tried. Although these come in extra wide I also felt they were not wide enough for my feet. Actually I felt these were the most narrow of all the extra wide shoes I tried.
The last shoe I tried was New Balance WR760. I found these to have a very wide toe box and they seem to feet my feet well. I don't even have to have the laces on my shoes super loose as I did on several of the others I tried. Oh and as an extra bonus these were the cheapest of all the ones I tried, gotta love that!
My advice for finding the right pair of shoes for you. If your feet are very wide like mine then you don't have a lot of choices, so going up a 1/2 to full size maybe what you need to do to find the right fit. Also if none seem to be working for you then don't hesitate to try a men's shoe, they pretty much look the same and a lot of the time are cheaper too.
