training for the 5k
by: Anonymous

I have done 3.5 a few times. Sometimes other days I only do 2 miles. I try to jog 5 times a week with 2 days off. I actually have jogged 3 times outside. On Saturday, April 24th, I jogged outside 2 1/2 miles in 30 minutes. Race for the Cure is May 15th. I will be going a little further outside at least 2 times per week hoping to get to 3.2 miles. My goal is to jog that race. Thanks for your comments. Helen

Outside vs. Treadmill
by: Anna

It sounds like you have a good pace going.

How many miles at a time are you running on the treadmill? How often?

As far as running on the treadmill, you can train for a race running on the treadmill, but if you can get in at least a couple runs outside, I would recommend that. It feels much different running outside than running on the treadmill.

If you are sticking to the schedule, it is recommended that you have an incline of at least 1.0 to make it more like running outside.
