The Love of a Good Man

For some crazy reason, I'm running MORE now than ever before...which is crazy considering I've added 2 more kids into my life, having just moved & gotten married this winter.

Common wisdom would say that cooking most of the weekly meals, doing laundry for 5, cleaning a house, staying at home most days w/ a 4 yr old, but working out of the home 2 days...all of this would mean LESS time for running than more.

The best reason I have for why I'm able to log more miles and run more days a week is because I married a great man.

I married someone who supports my running, knows how much life & energy it gives me, and creates space for me to run.

I don't get up at 4:30 am to get my miles in, or jump on a TM when the kids are in bed...I run in the late afternoon, leaving as soon as I see Glenn's car pull into our cul-de-sac.

I try to keep these runs short (3-4 miles) so that I'm home in time for dinner and for all the nighttime extra-curricular activities (cheering, softball, tubs).

But, in so many ways, Glenn is the best thing that ever happened to me...and his gift of time - unconditional, guilt-free, all to myself running time - is my secret to balancing it all.

I don't have to feel so guilty or resent the never-ending laundry because I know that, most of the times I want to do something (whether running or going to dinner with a girlfriend), it'll happen.

One of the many, many reasons I love my new hubby.
