Running Throughout My Pregnancy Helped Me with Labor

by Mother of 4

Running helped my labor in so many ways. I never even knew I was in labor. By the time I finally decided to have the midwife check to see if I was in labor I was 8cm dilated. It is my opinion that running helped me experience less pain during labor.

I ran through my entire second pregnancy. I got so many looks and comments running. I would run on the treadmill at the gym and people would come over to me and makes stupid comments. They would say things like, they didn't want to have to bring me to the hospital. I ran all the way until the day I had him.

During my third pregnancy I would have run the whole pregnancy again, but the doctors strongly advised me to stop at 30 weeks due to the fact that I was carrying twins. But in my opinion, exercising helps with labor and delivery.

I thought it is dangerous to run if you are pregnant.

Im 35 weeks and pregnant with 4th! So excited and happy to say I'm still running! Some days are harder than others but it goes like that even when not pregnant! Just listen to your body. Us as runners know that well. I'm all for going as long as you feel good, have normal pregnancy and no issues! :)
